I think the coolest thing about these From Inspiration to Reality Shoots (which needs a better name, by the way) is that for one perfect day, we get to jump into the creative brains of some of the most talented wedding gurus that are out there. We get to see a simple, but a gorgeous inspiration board, really come to life…in a way that only this very group of people could dream up. It’s an absolutely awesome little adventure and I feel really, really lucky to be the one to share it with you.
We asked each of the vendors to provide a little insight into their approach and their own interpretation of this design…
From Meagan at Maine Seasons Events...I repeated the idea of contrast for the table top and made an oatmeal muslin short table cloth to go over a rented formal stripe cloth and then topped both with Sara’s private collection burlap table runner and an upholstery weight gold and egg blue runner which I sewed with an edge in vintage gold trim. I wanted the design to have an heirloom, passed down feel, and incorporated little touches of vintage throughout, in the shoe embellishments, chandelier, glass bottles and bowls on the tables, and the blue glass rooster salt cellars.
From Brea McDonald, the photographer behind this gorgeous shoot…In talking about the design with Meagan I knew that texture was going to play a huge part in the concept of this shoot. We had a beautiful sunny day to shoot and indirect natural light flooded the barn allowing me to pick up on all the subtle textures on the table. This natural light with the added candles and overhead bulbs created an amazing warm feeling to the table setting. It glowed!
From Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral…Using elements of the season allows any product we use to really shine. Fiddleheads are one of our signature ingredients and gave us some textural elements in both the bouquet and some of the smaller centerpieces. Meagan wanted us to really utilize found objects and when I stumbled on the pale robin’s egg blue glass bottles at a CT flea market, I knew they were a perfect addition. Because of the rooster on the inspiration board, I wanted to add feathers and found the perfect pale blue shade to wrap the handle with. When Brea and I saw the tractor seat chairs in the back corner of the barn, we knew that was home for our bouquet shoot!
